Burghley Country Show

Apologies for the delay on getting the photos up, but the gallery from Burghley is online here. (We went straight from the Show up to Lancashire for a few days so I’m running behind!)

Burghley

What can I say about Burghley?  It was gorgeous weather again (two shows in a row – I could get used to this!) and we had a nice crowd around the Fun Dog Show on both days, with some wonderful people and gorgous dogs.

The winner on Sunday was a rather handsome Vizla, who got through to the final in the second class of the day – ‘Best Young Handler 11+’ – fun dog showI think it was his handler who really impressed the judge, finding him a bit hard to control she went out of the ring to ask some advice before coming back and carrying on with the class. Always a good idea to ask for help, and her improved handling after doing so won her the class, and eventually Basset Houndthe show.  Well done Max’s owner!

Monday’s winner was the rather stunning Henrietta the Basset Hound, who was an absolute dream to photograph!

And we have to feature the lovely Emma with her yorkie, who does look a lot like his owner!

So what else was happening at Burghley?

BurghleyAfter the dog show we went for our usual wander. It did feel like a Very Big Show, and I don’t think we saw all of it.  We did meet these rather interesting gentlemen, relaxing outside of their tent, and were impressed by their authenticity – even after hours!

The other group of re-enactment people did not impress us quite so much… having told everyone they sleep on the hard wooden beds they were showing all day, we were a bit amused to watch the airbeds being blown up and put on top!!  It was also difficult to get a photo of them cooking without getting the Sainsburys bags in the background!!!

We also spent some time mooching around the steam engines, most of which were being lovingly polished by their owners ready for the next day.Burghley

All in all a great show.  And I know that all those guys who work so hard behind the scenes with have their work cut out over the next two weeks as they take down Burghley and put up Woburn for 8th-9th June.

I’m looking forward to that one.  See you there?
