Living Heritage Country Fair at Kedleston Hall

What can I say? It rained and rained and rained some more!

dog agilityHaving said that, I had a fantastic weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the agilty where I was helping out one of my friend and clients – Blackshaw Dog Agility.  We were offering free ‘have a go’ sessions, and I have to say that despite the rain we were pretty busy for much of the time.

I also loved watching the gun dog demonstrations with the amazing Mullensote team. My working cocker spaniel, Tiegan, had a go at their assessments and managed to get Silver, missing Gold only because of my sloppy handling (two weeks – we’ll get it!!)

The Fun Dog Show was there again, courtesy of Gillies Leap, doing their usual excellent work and raising money for the Labrador Rescue charity this time.  My dogs didn’t excel.  Tiegan managed a fifth… out of five! You may well be hearing more about Gillies Leap in the future though… watch this space!

And I have to admit, I did spend a little too much time at the side of the lurcher racing, trying to get a shot which really

Lurcher Racing

captured the speed and power of those amazing dogs in full flight.  It’s fascinating to watch.  Usually they’re off in a corner somewhere so I’ve never really watched before.  If you ever get the chance, it’s well worth wandering over.

So, rain, hail and mud… but it was great fun too.  And after all the cars and vans had been towed off the field by a tractor I was very relieved to only have six miles to drive home!
