Well, the weather forecast ranges from wet to very wet, depending on which one you look at, but we’re still buzzing with excitement as we prepare for our first Country & Game Fair at Burghley. We’ll be working with Gillies Leap Fun Dog Shows, providing their prizes and publicity as well as photographing anything on four legs that happens to wander by!
It gave me the push I needed to buy some new equipment and publicity materials. The new banner arrived today (picture above) and I am really pleased with it. Yesterday the vinyl photographic backdrop arrived (great for muddy paws) . Two meters didn’t sound so big when I ordered it, but it’s enormous!! I could fit three newfoundlands on it and still have space for a labrador!! I really hope we have a reasonably big tent.
And we’re camping. I love the idea of this. But the reality is it will be extremely cold! This is the one time I wish I had a St Bernard instead of a rather petite spaniel – much better for providing extra body heat! At the moment I’m weighing up the pros and cons of going the night before, having a relaxed set up and drinking homemade Baileys all evening but two nights under canvas… or a stupidly early start on Sunday morning, preceded by a whole night’s sleep in a warm house and a proper loo. My very enthusiastic team of two are definitely voting for the first option.
But they are eleven. And they watch too much Bear Ghrylls! Left to them we’d be hunting our own food and drinking… well, never mind.
So if you’re anywhere near Burghley this Bank Holiday weekend, do put on your sun cream and come and say hi!
